My Journey

Emily’s journey in wellness began in 2002 after earning her degree in medical assisting. A Bronx native and now beacon resident began down the path that led her to many positions within the medical field. From drawing blood at an HIV research center AT ST. Vincent’s hospital in the west village to finally draining cysts and dressing wounds at a dermatologist’s office in Fleetwood in 2010, the road to skin was full of twists and turns. Well worth it to finally find her passion. In 2012 while working for the incredible doctor with excellent vision and the touch of an angel, she decided to attend the Aveda institute in SoHo to further her studies in the world of skin. There she studied skin beyond the basics of the epidermis and dived deeper into learning about the balance between internal and external and how the face tells a story of what the body is going through.  From your gut, to stress and diet, Aveda’s studies prepared Emily on how to address skin on a deeper level. Upon completing her studies and becoming licensed, Emily quickly landed extraordinary positions with Estée Lauder and finally one of the largest spas in NYC. Quickly progressing in her career becoming general manager of the SoHo spa, managing a team of over a 100, and becoming a leader as a director esthetician. This truly prepped Emily for what was to come. Finally in 2019 Emily was asked to join the team at a large salon in Dobbs Ferry. There she was allowed creative expression and helped develop the spa department, implementing protocols and putting together a menu that showcased all her talents developed over the years. But her health had began suffering. Unaware at the time that breast cancer was developing. Finally in November 2019 Haus Of Glow was born, in an effort to focus on health while still doing what she loved the most. After Haus Of Glow’s expansion in 2022, Emily was diagnosed with stage 4 triple negative breast cancer. Taking time to heal and stepping away, Haus of Glow became a place where others could now grow in their career. Emily is now on the road to being cancer free, she has completed 6 months of chemotherapy infusion, 2 months of daily radiation, a full bilateral mastectomy and removal of left lymph nodes, and 4 months of daily chemotherapy in pill form. Covid didn’t slow her down and neither did breast cancer. Emily is back in the clinic full time and taking new guest referrals. “Making everyone glow, changing lives, and enriching relationships is what I love the most and I’m excited to be back at it.”
